Munmun Dutta is an Indian TV and film actress and model who is best known for her role as ‘Babita’ in the TV sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’

Munmun Dutta began her career after her audition for Gladrags and the subsequent move to Mumbai. She initially walked the ramp for many fashion designers and also featured in varied television commercials.

Her acting debut came with ‘Hum Sab Baraati’ a television show on ZEE TV that allowed her showcase her talent alongside famous contemporaries like Dilip Joshi and Bhavana Balsaver. After the show was pulled off air, Munmun went back to modeling. Her big acting break occurred in 2008 when she was cast as Babita in the show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’ This sitcom is one of the longest running shows on TV to this date.

Dutta has also worked in Bollywood movies. She made her movie acting debut in the Kamal Hassan starrer Mumbai Express. In 2006, she worked in the movie ‘Holiday’ alongside Dino Morea.


  • Munmun was born on 28 Sep 1987 into a professional family of singers in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. Dutta received professional training in classical music when she was a child. After passing the 12th grade in Bengal, she moved to Pune for further studies in fashion, dance, and art.

She has stated that she does not have the time for it. She wants to spend her time traveling the world and understanding life before settling down.
